After days of rumors that clogged up Twitter feeds, it appears that Mike Anderson has accepted the head coaching position at Arkansas. Anderson was 111-57 in his five seasons at Missouri. Anderson has background experience at Arkansas, where he served as an assistant for 17 seasons under Nolan Richardson.

The rumors of Anderson to Arkansas started on Saturday evening when a television station in Tulsa reported that Anderson was going to be introduced as the Razorbacks new coach on Sunday in Fayetteville. That was just a rumor and it appeared that Anderson was going to stay in Columbia when it was announced that Missouri and Anderson were about to finalize an extension.

A couple days went by without hearing an update on the extension at Missouri. The news today was that Anderson agreed to a seven year, $2.2 million deal to be the head coach for Arkansas.

Now it’s time for Tiger fans to starting dreaming about who they want roaming the sideline at Mizzou Arena. A candidate who comes to mind is Bruce Pearl. The former Tennessee coach was fired this week, but has several recruiting violation on his record.

A coach that would be my personal reasonable choice is Virginia Commonwealth head coach Shaka Smart. The 33 year-old has brought VCU to the sweet 16 in his second season as head coach.

Other possible options are Ben Jacobson (Northern Iowa), Chris Mooney (Richmond) and Cuonzo Martin (Missouri State).
